Cherry and Silver Society
The fastest growing alumni giving club at UNM today, the University of New Mexico's Cherry & Silver Society was established in July 2004 by the UNM Foundation. The Society was created in order to recognize donors who have given to UNM every year following graduation. The decision to give every year is the most important factor for Cherry & Silver Society membership.
New graduates have 24 months after the date of graduation to make their first gift. You can designate your gift to the UNM program of your choice. Annual gifts to the University are essential and a direct investment in UNM faculty, students and programs.
Alumni have a variety of reasons for giving to UNM – from enhancing undergraduate education, supporting innovative research, providing scholarship assistance, and pride in Lobo athletics. Many people believe UNM does not need additional support since UNM is a state school - in reality UNM is a state assisted school and additional support is crucial. The funds UNM receives from state, local, and federal sources make up only about 18% of UNM's total budget. By making a gift to UNM you are showing that you believe in UNM's success and you can make an immediate positive impact on the life of a student or in the greater UNM community.
We hope that when you become a member of the Cherry & Silver Society, you will also find you can stay better connected with your alma mater. Some alumni feel that once they graduate, they no longer have a connection with the University…but we hope you will stay connected! We look forward to your membership in the Cherry & Silver Society.
