Gary M. Beal, CIC
Gary M. Beal, CIC, is a Principal of Leavell Insurance Inc. in Hobbs. A Certified Insurance Counselor and instructor, Beal has spent 18 years in the commercial banking industry and 25 years in commercial insurance. In addition to his current service on the UNM Foundation Board of Trustees, Beal has served UNM as a past Board Member of the University of New Mexico Alumni Association.
Beal earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of New Mexico and studied at Southern Methodist University Southwest Graduate School of Banking in Dallas, Texas.
Beal was the recipient of the first “Fred Award” for outstanding contributions & assistance to the community as a whole presented by Best in Lea County, and has mentored youth throughout the community and the state for over 30 years. Professionally, he serves as Legislative Committee Member of the New Mexico Oil & Gas Association.
Devoted to improving youth education, Beal volunteers his time to work on a wide range of related issues: through Hobbs Municipal Schools as a current Member of the Freshman School Student Improvement Team; the Martin Rockwell Scholarship Committee, as current Chairman; as current president of the Eagle Trust Foundation; as Chair of the Veteto Excellence in Education Committee; and as an Executive Committee member of MyPower, Inc., a non-profit designed to reduce teen pregnancy rates and STD's in Lea County.
Community building work includes his membership in Leaders Industries, Inc., and service as an Executive Committee Member of the Community Drug Coalition. Beal is also a Board Member of the Economic Development Corporation of Lea County.
Beal is the Past President and current Youth Exchange Officer for the Rotary Club of Hobbs. Other recent service to the community includes work as Board President and Judge for Teen Court of Lea County; President and Regional Board Member of Big Brothers & Big Sisters; Huddle Coach and State Board Member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes; District Chairman & Committee Member of Conquistador Boy Scouts Council; Board Member of Guidance Center of Lea County, Salvation Army of Lea County, Main Street Hobbs , and Independent Insurance Agents of New Mexico (Big I). Beal has also served First United Methodist Church of Hobbs as immediate past Chairman of Church Council, and past Chairman of Finance, Worship and Youth Councils.
