Sandra Begay-Campbell
Sandra Begay-Campbell is a former regent (2001-2006) and secretary of the UNM Board of Regents. She is a Gallup-area native and currently employed at Sandia National Laboratories as a Principal Member of the Technical Staff working with tribal renewable energy throughout the nation. She attended the UNM Gallup branch campus for two years before transferring to main campus to complete an associate degree in pre-engineering in 1986 and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1987. She also holds a master’s degree in structural engineering from Stanford University. She has served on the UNM School of Engineering Advisory Board and was named one of its Distinguished Alumnae in 2005. Ms. Begay-Campbell is also a recipient of the Alumni Association’s Zia Award. In 2000, she was a recipient of the Governor's Award for Outstanding Women from the New Mexico Commission on the Status of Women. That year, she also received the Stanford University Multicultural Alumni of the Year Award.
