Yolanda Jones King, Ph.D.

Yolanda Jones King, Ph.D.Yolanda Jones King, has a doctorate in physical chemistry and works in research and development with the Air Force Research Laboratory. Dr. King served recently as the chair for NATO Research and Technology Organization’s Sensors & Electronic Technology Panel. She was selected in 2009 to be the director of engineering and technical management at the USAF Nuclear Weapons Center at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico.

She holds a patent in beam sensing techniques and has numerous technical publications. In 1996, she was selected for a fellowship with the U.S. Congress. Dr. King also served on a research assignment at the Ecole Polytechnique in France. She received all three of her degrees in chemistry from UNM including her doctorate in 1982. She is a recipient of the Alumni Association’s Zia Award and Lobo Award. She has also served UNM on the Graduate Student Association Council, Alumni Association Board, Conflict of Interest Committee and Dean of Arts & Sciences Advisory Council.

Dr. King has served on the first New Mexico Space Commission, the NM Board of Pharmacy and served for three elected terms on the statewide board of the Network for Women in Science and Engineering. In 1995, Dr. King was selected as the “YMCA Woman on the Move in Science and Technology.”  She has been twice honored as an “Outstanding Woman of New Mexico.”
