Wendy Antonio Retires from UNM Foundation

Wendy Antonio, former AVP of Special Projects for the UNM Foundation, has retired effective June 30. Wendy previously served as the UNMF’s director of communications from April 2011 through 2014. Before that, Wendy served for five years as project coordinator, helping plan and implement the launch of the Foundation’s multiyear comprehensive fund-raising campaign (Changing Worlds: the Campaign for UNM). In addition, she served as the Foundation’s liaison with the consulting firm that prepared the campaign readiness report. Prior to coming to the UNMF, Wendy previously served as a community planner, graphic artist and map maker for social service programs.

Wendy and her husband, Jim, are now living full time at their home in Cañon City, Colo., and looking forward to more travel as well as their yearly beach visits to Florida’s west coast. We wish you well, Wendy, and will miss you!

Miranda Eastham to Retire from UNM after 26 Years of Service

Miranda Eastham, who most recently has worked on the Foundation Data+ project for the UNMF for the past two and a half years, will retire from UNM at the end of July after 26 years of service to the University. The goals of the Data+ project were to review and enhance the data quality in Advance as well as to procure as much new data as possible.

Miranda began her career at the Alumni Relation’s Office in July 1989 as its data manager. In 2005, in a move to consolidate the data functions of the then Advancement Services unit, Miranda along with three other colleagues moved to the UNMF offices from Hodgin Hall on campus.

Throughout her career at UNM, most of her work has been as a steward of alumni and donor data. In addition, she served as the UNMF gift and records processing manager before she moved to the Foundation Data+ project. In 2012, Miranda was awarded the UNMF Trustee’s Outstanding Employee Achievement award.

Miranda has two degrees from the University of Colorado at Denver – a BS in Information Systems and an MBA in Marketing.

As for what’s next for her, Miranda reports that her immediate post-retirement plans include “spending more time with family and enjoying a little R&R while planning my next adventures.” We wish you all the best, Miranda!

Take Five to Give Five (to Help Us Help You Help Your Donors!)

When a donor calls and asks for your assistance in making an online gift, the best way to help guide them through the process is if you’re already familiar with the UNMF online giving form by having made a gift yourself—so, we would like to suggest that staff members (from front line fund-raisers to support staff) take 5 minutes to give $5 via the Foundation’s simple four-step online giving form. You may give to any fund, and of course you may give more than $5 if you wish. To get started, click here. Thanks for helping us help you help your donors!

July is Ultraviolet Safety Month

The skin is the body’s largest organ. It protects against cold, heat, sunlight, injury, and infection. Yet, some of us don’t consider the necessity of protecting the skin from overexposure to the sun. Please visit the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services website for helpful information on UV safety, fun sun safety quiz to check your UV IQ, and sun safety polls.
