Marketing and Communications Department Welcomes New Student Employee

Veronica Muñoz-De La Cruz

Veronica Muñoz-De La Cruz

In late May, Veronica Muñoz-De La Cruz, joined the UNM Foundation Marketing and Communications team as a student communication assistant. Originally from Los Lunas, N.M., Veronica is a junior at UNM majoring in multimedia journalism and psychology, and minoring in honors. Before joining the Foundation, she worked as a design assistant and web editor for the Daily Lobo, a project coordinator and graphic designer for the UNM Student Union Building, and as an intern at the New Mexico Hospitality Association. “Through these jobs, I have discovered that my passion is graphic design, and I hope to continue to pursue that passion in graduate school and future employment opportunities,” said Veronica. In addition to designing, Veronica said she also “enjoys reading, running, taking photos, exploring Albuquerque, and, of course, occasionally binge-watching shows on Netflix when it’s time to finally relax!”

You may reach Veronica at Veronica.Munoz@unmfund.org. Welcome, Veronica!

UNM Foundation Supports, Adapts UNM Rebranding Effort

Back in January, quite a few UNM Foundation staff members—including reps from Marketing and Communications, Donor Relations and Annual Giving—attended the rollout of UNM’s new brand. UNM Foundation leadership supports our efforts to work with UNM Marketing and Communications to implement the new (and evolving!) brand in our communications efforts, including use of unusual photos such as those taken from differing perspectives and those with a particularly interesting focus or composition. The UNMF has already begun using brand elements in some of our projects, and Marcom will be using the new brand in this year’s Annual Report of Giving. As the brand continues to evolve, we will implement components to compliment UNM’s efforts as is appropriate for our audience and needs.  Thanks for your patience during this process. If you’d like to find out more about UNM’s new brand, please visit brand.unm.edu.

Broadcast E-mail Blackout Dates for June Announced

The UNM Foundation Marketing and Communications staff would like to thank you for assisting us as we work to make the UNM broadcast e-mail design and delivery process the best that it can be.

In an effort to ensure the best possible service, we would like to advise you of the dates we will be unavailable to construct and design broadcast e-mails this summer.

The UNMF Marketing & Communications staff will be unavailable to construct and design broadcast e-mails on the following dates:
Monday, June 13, 2016 through Friday, June 17, 2016

Please note: Broadcast e-mails CAN be scheduled to run during this time period as long as they are approved in advance of the dates above. For best service, please plan to submit any first-time copy at least a week before these dates (by Monday, June 6) to give ample time for design, approval and pulling of recipient lists.

Thank you for your help. If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Kemp at Jennifer.Kemp@unmfund.org or Mario Lara at Mario.Lara@unmfund.org.

Third “Round of Appaws” + Quarterly Drawing Winners Announced

appaws_logoThe UNM Foundation staff recognition program, “Round of Appaws,” continues to promote the great work accomplished by our employees, staff and students! Out of the many staff members who were acknowledged this past month, one name was randomly drawn by UNM Human Resources at the beginning of June (today!)—and the winner is . . . Denise Codding! Congrats to Denise, who received a $10 gift card. In addition, at the All Staff Meeting last week, two names were randomly drawn from among those recognized during the first two months of the program, and the winners were Breannon Trujillo and Karl Kaplan, who received a $20 gift card. Congrats to both!

The “Round of Appaws” boards are located in both the upstairs and downstairs lobbies at 700 Lomas. You can acknowledge a coworker for helping finish a project; for taking on a new task and doing an amazing job with it; pitching in when help was needed; or going the extra mile on a project that had a lot of challenges. With so many way to thank someone there is no shortage of “appaws”! Be sure to “paws” and give thanks to a coworker – they just might win a gift certificate next month!

Please note, if you work outside of the central office at Two Woodward, you can download this electronic form on SharePoint and submit your praise for a staff member who has been exceptional. Please send completed electronic forms to Gretchen Doyle at Gretchen.Doyle@unmfund.org.

June is Men’s Health Month!

(Information below comes from menshealthmonth.org.)

Anchored by a Congressional health education program, Men’s Health Month is celebrated across the country with screenings, health fairs, media appearances, and other health education and outreach activities.

We would like to encourage all staff to Wear Blue Friday, the Friday before Father’s Day (June 17, 2016).

The purpose of Men’s Health Month is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. This month gives health care providers, public policy makers, the media, and individuals an opportunity to encourage men and boys to seek regular medical advice and early treatment for disease and injury.

We invite you to visit menshealthmonth.org for screening guidelines, health facts and much more valuable information. This list of screening guidelines is provided for your convenience.
