UNMF Office of Annual Giving Welcomes New Associate Director for CMN

Kathryn Richards

Kathryn Richards

Kathryn Richards joined the UNMF Annual Giving staff in early April as an associate director of development for Children’s Miracle Network (benefiting UNM Children’s Hospital). Originally from England, she attended the University of Exeter, England, where she studied Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies; in addition, she spent a year studying abroad in Alexandria, Egypt. She met her husband of five years, Matt, in Dubai. Kathryn has lived in the United States for nearly five years, in Virginia, where she previously worked in annual giving at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg. Before that, she spent two years with a non-profit legal firm in Norfolk, Va. Kathryn reports that she and Matt have one cat, Luna. In her free time, Kathryn likes to hike, run, travel, do yoga, cook and bake—and she reports that she is looking forward to doing all of these here in New Mexico. UNMF Welcomes New Athletics Development Director for Major Gifts

Kole McKamey

Kole McKamey joined the UNM Foundation staff in early April as an assistant athletic director for major gifts for UNM Athletics. Originally from Artesia, N.M., he graduated from UNM in 2006 with a degree in communication. Kole has more than nine years experience in the medical sales industry as an Area and Territory Manager with Johnson and Johnson and Medtronic.  Kole and his wife, Sarah, have two daughters, Peyton, 2, and Karsen, 7 months. In his free time, Kole reports that he enjoys “golfing, hunting, fishing and any kind of water sport.” He also noted that he played quarterback for the UNM Lobos from 2002 to 2006. UNM Foundation Welcomes New Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development

Stuart (Stu) Starner

Stuart (Stu) Starner joined the UNM Foundation staff in early April as a senior associate athletic director for development. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota-Morris with a degree in history. Stu’s wife, Barbara, is an artist.  They have grandchildren living in Bozeman, Montana and Tyler, Texas. UNM Foundation Welcomes New General Counsel

Giulia Urquhart

Giulia Urquhart joined the UNM Foundation staff in April as its new general counsel. Giulia (pronounced like Julia) joins the Foundation after a 21-year career in civil litigation and corporate communications in Colorado, Minnesota and New Mexico. She was a Presidential Scholar and Cum Laude graduate of Hamline University School of Law and holds a BA in Journalism from Benedictine College. Giulia has been married to her husband, Robert, for 24 years. They have two sons, Jared, a sophomore at Purdue University and Danny, a student at Sandia Prep. UNMF Marketing and Communications Department Welcomes New Student Employee

Natch Anan

Natch Anan joined the UNMF Marketing and Communications staff in mid April as a student graphics and social media coordinator. Originally from Bangkok, Thailand, Natch moved to the San Francisco Bay Area with her family when she was 6 and later moved to Albuquerque in 2007. She is currently a UNM sophomore majoring in strategic communication. She is also a creative director and co-owner of a multimedia production company called Nijian Productions. Natch has a pet dog, Esmée, and two siblings. She also reported that she has a boyfriend and best friend, David. Staff Changes

Kristine Purrington has been promoted to Senior Director of Development for the College of Fine Arts.

Sandy Liggett is retiring effective April 30, 2015. We wish her all the best.

Stefanie English’s last day with the UNM Foundation was April 17, 2015. We wish her well in her future endeavors.

Rich Grainger’s last day with the College of Pharmacy will be June 30. We thank him for his nine years with UNMF and wish him well in his future endeavors.

Chili Cook-Off Winners Announced

2015-Chili-Cookoff-DTalesOn May 5, Cinco de Mayo, the UNMF staff celebrated with its Fourth Annual Chili Cook-Off and Celebration of Local Foods. Winners were selected in various categories, as follows:

Chili
1st place – Rod (Wilma) Harder
2nd place – Curtis (Shelley) Helsel
3rd place – Emilia Rivera

Vegetarian Chili
1st place – Karl Kaplan (Only entry)
