The Ridenour Staff and Faculty Development endowment supports professional development opportunities for staff and faculty at the College of Nursing. By ensuring the highest level of expertise among nursing faculty and staff and recruiting and retaining qualified, committed and outstanding employees, the College of Nursing’s already strong reputation for outstanding nursing education will be strengthened.
Started by the graduating Summer 2010 class, this endowment literally “pays it forward” by providing scholarships to nursing students. The UNM College of Nursing (CON), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Outstanding Scholarly Project Award Fund supports recognition of the student with the most masterful and significant scholarly project for the year in which they graduate.
This endowed award is given annually to a senior midwifery student who shows evidence of community building in midwifery, or interest in a career in midwifery education, or who demonstrates exemplary leadership while in the midwifery program. The UNM Midwives of Color recruits and mentors persons of diverse ethnic/cultural backgrounds in the profession of nursing, especially midwifery; supports midwives of color in the community; increases awareness and responsiveness of maternal-child health care issues affecting communities of color in New Mexico.
