Alfred D. Mathewson Scholarship in Africana Studies

Established in 2001 in honor of Prof. Alfred D. Mathewson. Prof. Mathewson is  the Henry Weihofen Chair in Law, Director of UNM Africana Studies Program and the first African American to earn tenure at UNM.  This scholarship is awarded to a student majoring or minoring in Africana Studies intending to pursue a career in education, especially as a public school teacher.
