Dana Tai Soon Burgess and Jameson Freeman Endowed Fund for Dance
Dana Tai Soon Burgess is a Santa Fe native, and graduated from the University of New Mexico. Dana is a leading American choreographer, dancer, and cultural figure. He founded Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company (DTSBDC.org) in 1992. It is the preeminent modern dance company in the Washington, D.C. region. He is the first ever choreographer in residence for the Smithsonian.
Dana and his husband, Jameson Freeman, established the endowment to support student learning and enrichment in dance, including student lodging and travel to enrich their studies outside of UNM, as well as hospitality costs incurred to bring guest artists and guest speakers in the dance area in the UNM Department of Theatre & Dance.
