RIOS Net is a voluntary collaboration of primary care clinicians working in partnership with each other and UNM in more than 50 low-income, medically underserved, and culturally diverse New Mexico communities. RIOS Net members seek ways to improve the health and health care of their patients and communities. RIOS Net’s research and cross-community collaboration has helped identify culturally and community appropriate solutions on health issues that are important to New Mexico’s primary care providers, patients, and communities. RIOS Net is nationally known for its innovations in underserved communities including increasing retention of clinicians, providing clinical and community education, and promoting improved quality of care. Funding provided by grants and private donations is used to support all areas of RIOS Net’s work from transportation costs for primary care clinicians and researchers to rural clinics to intervention trials and research.
