Sabrina Hopkins Endowment Fund for Epilepsy Research
This fund was established in December, 2020 to honor the memory of Sabrina Laurel Wiman Hopkins, who suffered from epileptic seizures from the age of four, underwent brain surgery at age 10, and passed away unexpectedly and suddenly after a major seizure three days after her 42nd birthday. Sabrina was a wonderful mother and wife, an accomplished athlete who ran several marathons and was an expert skier, and had developed an exceptional career in early childhood special educational case management. She leaves behind her husband, a son (13) and daughter (9).
Sabrina’s Fund for Epilepsy Research intends to promote scholarly activity to faculty, trainees, and staff of University of New Mexico Epilepsy Center in order to directly and indirectly benefit people with epilepsy in the state of New Mexico. The scholarly activity includes pilot research study in epilepsy and related fields, education of faculty, trainees, staff and patients, scientific publications and outreach programs to other providers and patients.
